"Mustang Plaid" beadies I'm calling these Mustang Plaid because Dawn of "Dawn's Glass Art" beads came up with the idea and then a challenge was born. In the true spirit of giving credit where credit is due..I have rolled frit on a rod and pulled it into a stringer before...but never in the way Dawn did..so thank you for opening up a WHOLE new world of frit usage Dawn!

From left to center top to bottom: (plaid beadies only) (Top Photo) 1. Mustang Plaid twistie laid on strip of white in between a 1/2 transparent lime and 1/2 transparent teal bead. 2. Moretti Periwinkle base with a stripe of white and Mustang Plaid twistie laid on top. 3. White barrel bead with Mustang Plaid twistie laid on top and heated to an almost glow on the edges to let the colors "bleed" 4 Lauscha Hawaiian purple base with a stripe of white and Mustang Plaid twistie laid on top. (Bottom Photo) 5. Moretti Pea Green base with a stripe of white and Mustang Plaid twistie laid on top. 6 Moretti Sky Blue with a strip of white and Mustang Plaid twistie laid on top. Encased stringer detail on each edge reacted with one of the colors to turn it dark. The encased twistie was a variegated aqua to teal. 7 Moretti Sky Blue with a strip of white and Mustang Plaid twistie laid on top. Exactly the same as #5, but no encased stringer..colors bleed nicely over the edges without that reaction. Comments: I could go on for days about this frit pulled into a frit twistie. wow. Heat and base color play a HUGE role in the end result. With heat applied slowly and carefully (but kept low)..you tend to get the "sharper" edges and with slow and careful heating to higher temps, you get the "bleeding".

From left to center 1 Base Color:Moretti pale lavender Technique: Rolled in frit and melted in. Lightly etched 2 Base Color: Moretti pale lavender Technique: rolled in silver and frit, melted in with Medium Turquoise stringer detail 3 Base Color: Moretti pale lavender Technique: rolled in silver and frit melted in and lightly etched. 4. ~ Same as #2 Comments: Beautiful variations to this color when used with silver and reactive to turquoise. Turquoise got a "rough" edge to it as well as center veining. Very "tribal" looking! Didn't etch deeply. Purples take on a more organic hue on this base glass.
