December Blog
December 27, 2005

20 days for an update. Holy Cannolli...I think that's a record. So...what have I been up to you ask?
Work. Christmas. Learning new stuff and contemplating life.

Seriously.

I've had one of those whirlwind months where the time just passes and I find myself saying
OMG...where did it go??  In that time however..I have made some decisions that will hopefully
find me much happier on a personal level in the upcoming year. Don't get me wrong...I'm a
pretty happy gal 99% of the time...but the fact remains that I don't want to work for anyone
anymore.  I'm smart, I'm educated, talented (oh DO go on!)...and I love being at home.  Traffic
sucks and so does the prospect of my car becoming a crash magnet on the side of the highway
before it's paid off.  I'm going to continue to work as a consultant but no more than 3 days a
week. I did manage to land a contract on my own...which is such a huge start to being fully
self-employed.  I'm going to look at a job in counseling JUST so I can get the higher level of
licensure. I've had my MSW for 7 years now..time I started using it to it's full potential.
Plan...teach and consult on my own. Gimme a couple of years....hopefully it will pan out in real
life the way it is in my head.

Second big development...I'm almost ready to move the torchie inside!  Been TRYING to find a
contractor to do the work...but jeeeeez...1/2 the ones I called in the phone book were already out
of business and a couple wouldn't come to the house for less than $250. Amazing. I have the
equipment. I have the money...and I still can't get it done.   Cross your fingers for me...I'm on the
serious prowl as of Thursday.

Third...I've been working on metal smithing and in the tumbler as we speak are my first
offerings!  I can't post them because I can't find my camera. I think one of the elves made off with
it.    Simple goodies but necessary goodies.  Smooth metal Sterling Silver bead caps!! They are
quite faboo if I must say so myself.  Sterling silver for now and Gold Filled in the future. I stopped
by the goodie store today but they were closed for inventory, so the GF will have to wait.

Watched alot of TV and movies this past week.  Sometimes I think we all need to let our brains
and bodies rest and try not to feel guilty for being couch veggies. Watched "March of the
Penguins"...OMG a must see and me and the honey are constantly doing what we call "happy
penguin" at each other. We are too weird sometimes.   Watched "Die Hard".  John had NEVER
seen it!  Ever. Ever. He loved it.  Watched "Hotel Rawanda"...bring the tissues and check your
temper at the door. Disgusting what happened and how the entire world ignored it.  Lots of
mixed emotions when that one was over...but a must see for sure.

TV...I've been watching complete trash.  Junk food for the brain.  Queer eye for the straight
guy...weddings!  Cry cry cry.  If I ever get married again...I SO want those guys.   Shark week on
Discovery channel...well, not sure it's the official shark week...but it was on all day Monday.  I
also have a sickness in that I love disaster movies and any movie that big mutant bugs (or any
other critter for that matter) invade small helpless cities.  Watched "Lake Placid",  "Anaconda",
and a multitude of comets smash into the earth movies.

Tomorrow is a big day...work in Lansing and picking up the booger head.  Miss that little guy
when he's gone. Then....drumroll please...we are heading to Florida!  That's right...7 days in the
sun and surf compliments of my honey's parents. They are so generous and fabulous for taking
us...I can't WAIT!

Believe it or not...I'll try to update before I leave.   I've got a few (wonderful) things to say about
JustBeads and why we all need to give them our business...but I'm running out of room here!
Until later!! :)

Current Happenings December 7, 2005
Holy Hump day.  I have the worst case EVER of the cooties. I mean epic Cooties. The kind of
cooties that invade the neighborhood and travel across state lines. BLEAH!

It has been unbelievably cold so the garage is probably the culprit for the cooties.  Something
about spending hours in the tundra MIGHT have something to do with it. I have managed to get
some special orders done and a set for
ebay that will be going up later tonight.

I also got ALL The goodies for some beginning metal working and have several very good
beads that I had to go try and bang metal into and screw up and ONE very good fantabulous
bead!  The thing is...once you put the metal in...ya can't get it out...so I trust one of you faboo
designers out there will be able to make my booboos fabulous!  They are on the
Specials page
for cheap cheap cheap!

Time to go see if I can somehow hook up an IV with Orange Juice laced with penicillin in it to kill
these cooties...ugh.

December 1, 2005
Welcome to December!  The month came in with a little bit of snow today...I can feel that mean
Michigan winter coming!  I've been working my tushy off...this consulting does come in spurts
and it is really in rare form right now. December has been a slow month for me for 5 years...but
this year I'm getting requested left and right!  So...of course...I'm running on adrenaline alone
with the holidays approaching like a mom running for the last XBox in stock.

I do have some new goodies to share including a completely new button for
gift baskets!  These
baskets are a COMPLETE blast to put together and would so love to take some special orders!
I've always been one of those pain-in-the-butt people that won't buy gifts for the sake of buying a
gift...I like it to be personalized...and what a wonderful way for
YOU to personalize a gift for
someone special.

I'll be adding baskets as I make them...and in the works right now.....a poker basket (like you
didn't see THAT one coming! haha!), a snowflake basket, and a bright funky colorful basket.  So
be sure to check back! I also have an idea bouncing around in my bean about a beaders
basket..we'll see how that pans out!

I finally got the instructions for the
"Faux Boro" beads up too! So busy! haha!

I got my birthday present from my honey yesterday...it was...*drumroll* TONS AND TONS AND
TONS of equipment and tools for metalworking!  When I was making jewelry it was so hard
sometimes to find "just that right piece" and I know I settled sometimes for what I could find.
So...that will be an added feature here in the very near future..findings!  I'd love to hear what you
would like to see...I already have one guinea pig to test my pieces out!  Let me know if you are
interested in l "test- driving" new designs!

I also have a set available under
specials!

Until my next spare moment....
