| Current Happenings February 1, 2006 Wooooo Doggie! Bye Bye Hump day...thank GOODNESS. Been a whirlwind week...with Superbowl coming this weekend! My honey is swamped at work, traffic is snarled..but I'm so excited! I love Detroit! Have you been watching American Idol? The tryouts are the FUNNIEST things I've ever seen. Last night I was laughing so hard....my belly hurt. Between the guy who got all Goth/Heavy Metal on Paula and the "Baby Got Back" chick...wow. I'm beginning to really really really think that there are just alot of people out there with some serious issues (clinical or not) and any public tryout like this just brings them out of the woodwork. Having worked with Chronically Mentally Ill people for years...American Idol is a mecca. It really is amazing they find true talent thru all of the tryouts. Talk about patience! And for those with no illness...just a serious lack of insight...please....please...please....be honest with your children...not mean...but honest. You gotta wonder if some of these people really KNOW how they sound...or if it's all an act just to get on TV. Who knows. I personally would avoid being on TV like the plague. Like my butt doesn't look big enough in person...let's just put it on film. Ok..that's enough of my sarcasm for one day ....I do have some new beadies on the Specials page...yummy yummy yummy Orange sherbert colors. Until later...Cass January 21, 2006 Turbo Quick update and a sneak preview of what's going up on ebay tomorrow! Finally found the torch groove again. Of course...in typical me style...I forgot to take a pic of the beadies I sent Lynne. Lets just say there were oh...7-9 lampwork beads in earthy tones..very coolio looking with tons and tons of coordinating beads...Swarkies, Jasper, Smoky Quartz, etc etc. Retail value on it was $45 and just tons of fun to use...or fondle.... Until later....Cass January 14, 2006 Happy Saturday everyone! We woke up to the entire house having the cooties. I have one upstairs with a serious case of the whiny-s and one downstairs with a huge case of the "I'm gonna die"-s. Winter has indeed returned to Michigan. I'm wishing more than ever to be back in Florida! I don't know how any of you who live in sunshine and near the beach EVER go to work...unless of course work is on the beach. We were on Ft. Meyers beach fishing off the pier. Between him, my son, and his brother...there were only crabs to be caught that day, but a pelican did come and sit on the pier and keep us company for awhile. I forgot my camera..of course...so as soon as I get pics from "the fam"...I'll post them. I also met a wonderful glass artist who has a cart on the Ft. Myers beach walk...I'm going to make sure it's ok if I post a link...but all I can say is WOW! Beautiful work at great prices! We also rented a boat for a day and actually went out into the Gulf. It was so pretty and just amazing..fishing was pretty stinky...but nothing beats relaxing in the sun with the waves just swishing against the side of the boat. John did catch a big ol- puffer fish..that was pretty exciting trying to get him off the hook. Those suckers have TEETH! On the way back, we stopped at the inlet and hung out on some sandbars to get shells. Well, weren't paying attention and the tide started to come in and me and John's mom were stuck out on the sandbar and had to wade back to the beach. The current was so strong..but we picked the shallowest part and just hoofed it across...all the while there were big silver fish jumping all around us. John's mom was FREAKING out...but we just kept chugging along and got to the beach. When we got back on the boat...she had cut the snot out of her big toe on a shell..again..I'm just chuckling about the whole thing. What is the point of this story you ask? Well, that night we are watching the Discovery channel about sharks and seems as we were in THE MOST DANGEROUS AREA POSSIBLE for shark attacks and she had cut her foot to boot. OMG...I may never recover. So much for not being scared by the ocean. Enough about the vacation....still no beadies. Sowwy...I have about 6 - 1/2 sets sitting around. I'll try to clean em up and put them into sets this weekend. And yep...I'm a huge slacker when it has come to the trivia contest...so finally...here are the winners. November - Dana , December- Lynne Congratulations ladies! I've sent you an email for your addresses! When I hear back from Lynne I'll post a pic of what she chose..yep...she's getting a choice! :) Trivia for January is posted with the prize being 10 of my beadcaps and a set of 5 solid colored spacers of the winner's choice. And...to my friends who linked to my site from Lampwork Etc. ...you will get 10% off any order thru January...just include your LE screenname...and THANKS for peeking at the site! January 8, 2006 Happy New year everyone! Hopefully this year will find you with resolutions you can keep and an endless muse! Going to be short and sweet today...my Yahoo site builder is giving me FITS tonight and keeps locking up on me. Florida was quite wonderful and fabulous and can't wait to dish about the trip...all I'm gonna say for now is WHY do I live in Michigan. Why. Seriously. I have finally also posted the fruits of my silver-smithing efforts...some of those impossible to find Smooth Sterling Silver bead caps...check em out! I've also returned from Florida with a hoarde of gemstones ready for setting. And miracle of all miracles...I'm actually going to hit the torch this week. My muse went into overdrive in the sunshine and can't wait to try some of my ideas out. Until later..! Cass |
