| April 29, 2005 Yay! It's Friday! Just got back from lunch with some girlfriends. I'm in an afternoon carb-coma as Friday is my "free day" on the quest for the bikini-diet, so I eat what I want on Fridays. Chicken Fried steak is a good thing! Friday Glass works is up! Enjoy your weekend! I'm gonna go take a nap! April 28, 2005 Another week has gone by..where DOES the time go as we get older? I have been a completely snarky individual for the past 24 hours...I won't go into it..but just having a couple of icky days. But, thinking about how another week has gone by..made me realize the crappy days come and go...but my family, my health, and my good fortune are still here...and I have to be thankful for that! There was a report this week about the "most depressed" cities with Detroit being in the top 3. The survey was based on the highest antidepressant sales. I was livid when I heard that. Do the cities with the highest sales of handguns have the highest crime? Do the cities that sell the most cars have the most car accidents? What a rotten survey...I call it a survey and not a study. There is nothing scientific (or valid) coming to a conclusion based on sales of something. Granted, it's grey most of the year here and in the city of Detroit, there is a tremendous amount of poverty, but does that make this...or any other city..depressed? I just love how this clinical medical condition becomes a statistic based on pharmaceutical sales. I'd like to get these "researchers" in a room alone......*snarl* Like I was trying to say at the beginning of this ramble...it's all in the outlook. All in the attitude. Now, the entire city has been given a "label" and it torques me off. WHEW! /rant off! Good news...my flowers survived our little snow storm, my son decided he "wasn't ready" for the school abstinence talk..so he sat in the library (I'm proud of him for being able to verbalize he didn't want to go in a mature way), and it's Thursday night...that means "The Apprentice" and "ER"! The highlight of my week. (Now if the president would just stop talking so I can have my Must See TV!) Have a great night everyone! April 24, 2005 Well, it's snowing again. That's right...80 degrees 4 days ago..and now...Well, just see for yourself <~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ On a lighter note...you HAVE to see this site. I have not laughed so hard in my entire life and it's a wonderful way to burn a few hours and lose a few IQ points. Be sure to check out #231...it's my personal favorite! I have a new auction up! Everyone have a wonderful week! April 23, 2005 Ok Ok...nobody ever said I was the most timely person on the planet! The Birthday was a hit and I didn't ever get a chance to list my second Friday Glassworks! Well, they are up now. I'm tired...two 12 year old boys and an XBox last night. Oh..let's not forget pizza and ice cream cake. Oh boy. Have a great weekend everyone. I'm going to go have myself a little Ice cream cake for breakfast! April 22, 2005 Happy Friday everyone! I'm putting up the Friday Glassworks early. Today is my son's birthday...he's a big bad 12 today. I have a super busy day getting his ice cream cake and decorating the house. We're going to breakfast (yes its 1:20 am...I know) in the morning..well, later this morning. So, anyhoo....Beads are up early AND I have 2 sets...only one going up now though. The other ones are cooking in the kiln. I can't believe how big he is now..almost as tall as mom (not hard to do , I'm only 5'2") but he's still a little kid! As if to "ram" the fact that my baby is growing up...I got "the permission" slip today. That's right. Sex ed. Guess what he's getting for his birthday besides some XBox games...that's right..."the talk".Jeepers. April 19, 2005 Happy Tuesday! (haha! that just doesn't have the same ring to it as Happy Monday does it?) What a fabulous day today! Drove all the way home with the sunroof open...even got a little pink on my freckled face! I'm so happy it's spring! Well, it happened again. Someone thought I was alot younger than what I am. This is generally a good thing, but in my line of work, it can sometimes interfere with people taking me seriously. So, long story short with a happy ending...the woman I'm working with's response "Wow! We all thought you were just out of school! I guess you do know what you are talking about!" *sheesh* On a happy note, I've been working in a locked dementia unit and we have one resident who is 101! She is spunky as can be and still walks around! I told staff she's earned to right to be as cranky as she wants to be! We also had a little incident with a less than happy resident and myself and another social worker got to be nurses for about 1/2 hour taking his temp, vital signs, etc because we were the only people he would let near him. It's all about approach! It's like that with everyone isn't it though? Go into a restaurant with a crabby attitude...and that's what you get. Ok, I'm rambling! **SHOCKER** Oh! I also played on the torch tonight and guess what....gotta new shape! Yehawwwwww! So look for some sets with funky little bicones this week! They're cooking in the kiln as we speak. I also bought a ring mandrel...let's see if that impulse purchase works better than the square toggle mandrel *shrieks and runs away in fear at the results* Here are my newest auctions (and a boy scout thingy...apparently the initials are the same..not mine, but I found it funny) Everyone have a great week April 17, 2005 Ahhh Sunday night. Work tomorrow. Excuse me while I throw a tantrum. Work sucks, that's all there is to it. Playing with fire and glass is a MUCH better job! But...a girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do! Weather was unbelievably fabulous this weekend! I got out in the garden, played in the dirt, dug up some foogly bushes. It was GREAT! Took a ride on the new bike Friday night. John promises me he's getting me a "sissy bar" for the back...this seat is much higher than on his old bike and every time he "hits it" my butt just sliiiiidddddes a little, and man does that ground look hard! He also bought some leather chaps today at a bike show *snickers*. I figure I will make "Village People" jokes for as long as I think it's funny. I also played at the torch quite a bit and made tons and tons and tons of colorful beadies which I'll be listing this week! Have you seen this little guy? Is that not the most ADORABLE face ever? Well, aside from looking like a cross between a bat and a rat on Mountain Dew...I think he's just cute as can be! Did you hear about the mouthy kid on the The Apprentice that got arrested? Buahaha! He also got fired this week. Yep, better get some therapy buddy...you're gonna need it. Everyone have a great week and I'll check in when I can! April 15, 2005 Holy Smokes, where did the week go?? It's Friday again and I didn't update all week. Soooo sorry! Like I said last week, I've been called into work again for the first time in 6 months. Wow, have I gotten used to my time being MY TIME! haha! Long story short...Monday AND Tuesday...I fell asleep on the couch reading somewhere around 8 or 9pm. So no like me. I usually am really warming up around 9 and torch until 1 or 2am. So thank you for your patience while I "readjust" to this schedule..which looks like may be a long-term assignment. Well, I'll update later this weekend, but I wanted to make sure I got Friday Glassworks up and have to go make sure my taxes are "good to go". April 8, 2005 Happy Friday everyone! Yeeeeehawwwwww! Been busy busy at the torch this week with fabulous weather (Finally!) Had to go to "real" work on Wednesday and MAN was I tired that night. Also got a call to "clean up" another building in Detroit...my FAVORITE kind of facility, but somehow I'm going to have to figure out how to get up in the morning again. I am only going to be working 3 days a week (much to my bosses displeasure), but I have spent my entire adult life working for other people, and I so truly enjoy working with glass and doing "my own thing" that I'm going to continue to devote every spare minute I can to it. I don't see it as work...I love every second of it. So...if updates are late next week...you now know why! haha! I can't believe that smart-ass kid is STILL alive on the Apprentice. What is going on? Is he staying on for the ratings??? That cocky little you-know-what would have heard a thing or two from me by now and I would have made SURE the Donald knew what a pain he was. GAH! Still amazed at the behavior of these adults. Poker Party is tomorrow...so I'll be busy cooking and cleaning to get ready for it. My honey makes homemade pasta (yes from scratch...an Italian man in the kitchen is SUCH a good thing!) and I always make something to "compliment" it. I'm thinking Italian Beef sandwiches again..those went over pretty well last time. That or Chicken Scampi. The jury is still out..I'll decide at the grocery store later today. Friday Glassworks are up...2 sets this Friday! Have a great weekend everyone! April 5, 2005 Ohhhhh, the pain and the agony. Stayed up too late to watch Illinois lose. Is a sad sad day in this house this morning. Oh well...next year baby!!! So...happy Tuesday! haha! Sorry, missed Monday..busy busy busy. I couldn't sleep for squat on Sunday night. Since I was a teenager, I have about 1 or 2 times a year where I end up staying up ALL night. Sometimes I lay in bed and get crabbier by the minute, other times I'm not so exhausted...and do something productive in the house. Sunday night was a cross between the two. This Saturday is our monthly poker party...so I was cleaning the house at 430am getting ready for the party Lemme talk for a minute about how funky the bathroom gets. Ya'll have a son..husband..boyfriend....any male...what DO they do in there? Are there ground tremors that only men are affected by? Does the toilet move forcing them to "chase it down" in some twisted real-life video game? If ya'll have men or boys in your house...you KNOW what I'm talking about. Bleah. I've added a new set to my Detroit series. It's a favorite of mine to make...so simple, but the impact is just faboo. Love these beads and had a custom order for them this week, so I decided I should probably go ahead and put them up! Been extremely productive and anticipate it isn't going to let up any time soon (thank you Mother Nature!) so I may be changing the format here a little bit. I'm tossing around the idea of a daily special or having a "buy it now" kinda page...not sure yet, but be sure to check in additions and changes. Also, be sure to check out the "set of the week" to the left...a super funky color combo at a great price! Everyone have a GREAT day April 1, 2005 Ok. Ok. I didn't get back this afternoon! Slept way too late, played on the torch a little bit then went and get a haircut. Here is where my day went all to hell. I should have known it wasn't going to be a good experience when she tells me..."I've had a bad day". I should have left right then...but oh no, society teaches us to be nice...so I stay. Long story short...bad haircut. Not the end of the world, but ticks me off nonetheless. So, to remedy this hideous hair-helmet I have now, I decided to put highlights in. Jury is still out how they turn out (hair is wet as we speak). I'll keep you posted. Today is also Friday, my "I'm going to eat anything I want day". So we went to Steak n'Shake and I celebrated the "poofiest hair I've ever had" (Thanks John for that observation! LOL!) and I had cheese fries. And chili. And a cheeseburger. Yeahhhhhh. Let's talk beads now! I had a few sets sitting around from my ever-so-productive week and like I said last night, I was struggling with what to list. Well, all cleaned up I think we have a winner! To the left is what I'm going to call the "set of the week". What that means is I will take orders for them until Friday...after that, they go into the archives for special order. Hope you enjoy and everyone have a faboo Weekend and cross your fingers for Illinois to win...unless of course you are from Louisville..in which case..PFTTTTTTTTTTTT! haha! |
