September 21, 2005 Later on..... Work was quite fabulous today! It's amazing how much better it is when you are in it for yourself! Anyhoo..the bad pics from this morning are gone. I give up on "white" pics. I think the grey background gives truer colors anyhoo...so I've replaced them! Watching this wench Rita in the Gulf heading straight for my mom and brother in Southern Texas. I guess we pissed off mother nature good this year eh? Listing some new beadies tonight as promised with one set in the Specials section. Have a great night! New Auction last night Good morning everyone! I didn't win the $250,000 lottery on Friday, so I get to to go work today and I'm actually excited!! Something about working for yourself makes the day so much better!! So, I won't be around all day...good thing I made some awesome beads yesterday in the Tahoe colors. I worked with this combo until I ran out of silver leaf! I'll give ya a hint....Tahoe colors in Manhattan designs. I'm quite pleased with how they turned out. I also played with my Pretty in Pink frit! Stay tuned for the results...kinda cool when they went *in* the kiln....we'll see what they look like coming out this afternoon. Bear with me on the pictures...I'm slowly accepting the fact that beads on the grey background look better...even though I really "want" to have them on a white background. I was in a hurry this morning...so I didn't have time to re-take them.....later...later....*snort* I also got a wonderful response from the holiday lentil and barrels...I have 2 more sets up with olive spacers and one bright set of pairs...will make some cute little earrings! The internet boards have been total bizarro world lately. I've been a good girl and have been biting my tongue. It's tragic to watch someone with little or no insight continuing to alienate people with their words. We all have opinions...but to quote a line in one of my favorite movies "Swingers"...."There's a nice way to say that". Everyone have a great day!! September 18, 2005 I've been hustling my tushie getting all the fabulous donations I've gotten for the Hurricane Katrina auction ready for the past couple of days. The generosity of others is truly awe inspiring! I've also been hustling (with all this hustling, you'd think the tushie would have gotten smaller or at least toned...but OH NO! haha!) getting ready for two shows back to back in oh...two weeks! Non-jewelry show and a bead-only show...so I've had to re-formulate my plan of attack at the torch! That pic looks so much better in my photo program...something is getting lost in the translation....gonna have to sic Kyle on it. He's the only one in this house that can work the damned thing. I also have a new, sick, favorite show. Warning...this is the dumbest thing you will ever ever ever ever ever see. Aquateen Hunger Force on Cartoon Network Adult Swim. Check your local listings...you gotta see it to believe it. You will lose brain cells just during the ghetto intro. But damn...I LOVE it! Thanks Kevin for getting our entire household IQ points down.....like watching info-mercials wasn't bad enough..... Here is the link...click if you dare! Oh, for anyone that was waiting for an update...the UPS guy got here at 7:10!!! September 15, 2005 Just had to share this happy story someone posted on a board I frequent. (Which is nice because you can tell it's about a full moon..people are SNARKY lately..sheesh!) Oil Tycoon does good September 14, 2005 Well, I'm proud to say that I have the cleanest office in town (for the moment), so focusing on that was worth it. I feel so organized...although I STILL didn't find a couple of things I was specifically looking for. I think findings and beads have an entirely separate level in the "lost sock" realm...socks you find when you move furniture..findings...gone. Just gone. Probably show up on the side of the highway somewhere! (I had a friend in grad school that said that whenever she saw a shoe or some other odd item on the side of the road...that is where the lost sock black hole opens up and all our lost items end up on the side of the road somewhere.) I'm trying to patiently wait for the UPS man to show up...it's 4:55 in the afternoon...and still no glass order *cries*. I have odd lots in there and bead release...which me and my oh-so-organized self ran out of. I totally ran out. I don't have a DROP left..so please...Mr. UPS man......bring me my goodies! Good news...I got the consulting job! Thanks for all the good vibes! This is a 4 or 5 days a month INDEPENDENT position, so the income will be nice without pushing into my glass time. I'm a happy happy girl today. More good news...Johnny is going to fill out an application for a LOCAL animal shelter that is rescuing animals from the areas affected by Katrina. He also surprised me by saying he would rather have a grown dog vs. a puppy!!! That makes me so happy because the grown animals are the ones that will really really need the TLC we have to offer. Ok..heading out for now and remember.....vibes to the UPS man..vibes to the UPS man.... September 13, 2005 I've been chained to my desk all morning and before heading to the garage, I figured I'd pop in and say "howdy"! THANK YOU to Beth for emailing me information about adopting a critter abandoned during the aftermath of Katrina. I've signed up to "foster" and permanently place a dog from Pasado Safe Haven, which incidentally seems to be working with the larger organizations who are making rescue efforts, such as Paws Chicago, the link Beth sent. So, keep your fingers crossed and maybe a bundle of puppy may be headed our way in 30-60 days (the length of time they are keeping animals in the shelters in the south before finding homes to give the owners time to locate them.) Other than that exciting tidbit of news...I'm desperately trying to clean up the office today. Moving the useless twin bed out of here and moving 2 tables in...I REALLY need the space as I have my computer and all my assorted Bead paraphenalia all on the same desk. It's a MESS to say the least. I have 17...YES 17 things to haul to the post office too. Gonna hit the Goodwill store while I'm down there...need some white dishes for display for my shows coming up...and ya never know what you're gonna find! I also took advantage of the cool weather this morning to spray Kills-everything-Roundup on...oh...every frikken thing in the yard. I finally made the executive decision to just kill EVERYTHING and start from scratch next year. The weeds were KILLIN' me! My son discovered "Google Earth" this week. He's hooked. He wanted to look up everyone he's ever known...even took out my address book and looked up houses we've lived in before! John and his friend from Elementary School, Mark, went out on the boat on Saturday and the night before watched a video they made in Cancun when they were 15 or 16. My honey was (and IS) entirely too adorable...but neither of them were nearly as cool as they remembered being. John was wearing a HUGE digital watch (which I figure I'll get a little teasing-mileage out of) and there is an entire segment devoted to Mark doing some kind of Martial Art moves after hours in a bar. He just sat in the chair with his hands over his eyes begging us to turn it off! I'm thinking I may just have to post the video! *snickers* Nostalgia rocks! Both of them caught fishies on Saturday, so John is now convinced I'm his bad luck charm. Mark took some great pics...I'll see if I can wrangle them from John and I'll post em. ok, I've procrastinated enough....enjoy your day! |
